Celebrating 40 Years of DF Communications!

This year marks 40 years of DF Communications, and we celebrated in style hosting an event at Union Kirk. From the moment guests arrived, it felt less like a formal event and more like a reunion. We had over 200 people join us, including long-standing clients, trusted suppliers, and both past and present members of the team. Some of the people in the room have actually been with us since the very beginning, which when you think about it, says everything about the kind of relationships we’ve built over the years.

Where It All Started

DF Communications was founded back in 1986 by Dick Fleming. He built the business on forward-thinking ideas and a real belief in where communication technology was heading. At a time when mobile phones were still a novelty, he was already talking about a future where we’d be watching TV on them… which, back then, sounded completely wild. Now, it’s just everyday life.

Fast forward to today, and his daughter Fiona Fraser leads the business as Managing Director, alongside our Sales Director Craig Forsyth. While the technology has changed massively, the core of what we do hasn’t. We’re still focused on putting our customers first and helping businesses stay connected with the right solutions.

From business mobiles and hosted phone systems to full connectivity solutions, we’ve grown into a trusted telecoms partner not just in Aberdeen, but across the UK.

A Night That Reflected Who We Are

The event itself really captured what DF Communications is all about, a mix of professionalism, personality, and strong community ties.

We had an amazing lineup on the night. DJ Homealone kept the energy up, Drums N Roses brought something a bit different with their live pipe band performance, and Lee McGrogan from Phoenix Magic added a bit of wow-factor throughout the evening.

One of the highlights for a lot of guests was the chance to get a photo with the Scottish Cup, kindly made possible with support from Aberdeen FC.

A huge thank you also goes to the team at Union Kirk for the fantastic food and for making everything run so smoothly behind the scenes.

Something that’s always been important to us is giving back to the community that’s supported us for so long.

On the night, we raised over £1,000 for Aberdeen FC Community Trust, which was a brilliant result and something we’re really proud of. Supporting local initiatives and charities has always been a big part of who we are, and that won’t be changing anytime soon.

40 Years of Telecoms Evolution

When you look back, the telecoms industry has changed beyond recognition. We’ve gone from analogue systems and early mobile devices to fully integrated, cloud-based communications and high-speed connectivity. It’s been a constant evolution, and one we’ve embraced every step of the way.

Our role has always been to help businesses navigate those changes, making sure they stay connected, work efficiently, and aren’t left behind as technology moves forward.

Reaching 40 years in business is a huge moment, but it’s not something we’re treating as a finish line. If anything, it’s a reminder of what matters most, continuing to deliver reliable, innovative telecoms solutions, backed by genuine, local support.

The event was about celebrating the people who’ve been part of our journey so far. And now, we’re looking ahead to what comes next.

If you’re a business thinking about your current setup, whether that’s mobiles, connectivity, or hosted systems, we’re always here for a chat.

Let’s talk telecoms.
